What should I buy in the Backpack Battles shop?

Usually you want to buy the best items for your build or strategy. However, you may also purchase items that are not that great, but are on sale. The idea is to sell them back to the shop if you reroll and need gold for another item, but you can use them in your backpack if you don’t.

You may see the chance of getting rare items in the Backpack Battles shop by hovering your cursor over the word “shop” at top right of your screen. In time, as the rounds progress, the chance of getting common items is reduced. Thus, on round 1 there is a 90% chance to see a common item and 10% chance to see a rare item in the shop. In similar fashion, at round 18 all item rarity percentages should be 20%.

Is Box of Riches good? What does it do?

In my opinion, Box of Riches is great when there is nothing better in the shop, and it is on sale. It gives you one small gem after each round, and also gems are offered in the shop. Some of these gems can be useful but if they are not compatible with your build, you may sell them to the shop. You may combine 2 lower tier identical gems into a better gem of the same type. Gems are more useful when you have several slots to put them in, for example weapons, armor, shields, and other items.

Is Piggybank worth buying?

Piggybank, like Box of Riches is great when there is nothing better to buy, and can be purchased for full price or on sale. This is because it pays for itself after one round (cost 3 gold = 1 gold generated + 2 gold sell back price). It generates 1 more gold after each round, but sometimes you will have no space to put it in and you will have to place it in storage or sell it. Piggybank can be combined with 2 Clovers to form a Lucky Piggy, thus saving bag space.

When should I reroll in the shop?

Rerolling in the Backpack Battles shop is a very important part of the game, hence every player at one time has wondered wether they should reroll or not in a certain situation. In general, you want to avoid paying full price for an item, unless you really need it for your strategy.

If you are looking for specific common items in the early rounds, for example a Pan or Whetstones, it makes sense to reroll because there is a high chance of them appearing in the shop. However, you can save gold (and a reroll) by purchasing similar strength items on sale, and then waiting for the next round to buy what you need.
